There are 6days from 25th feb to 2nd march i.e(25-26,26-27,27-28,28-29,29-1,1-2)
so (6*24)=144 hrs
and of 3rd march(24-5)=19hrs will be counted
so total hrs=163hrs
as mentioned in que clock looses 4 mins in 24hrs
In 24hrs clock looses =4mins
hence in 163 hrs clock looses=(4/24)*163=27 mins 16 secs

The Question is to calculate no. of minutes to be added when clock shows 9.00AM

Therefore,the correct time will be 9:27am

total no.of days between 25 FEB 2008 and 3rd MAR 2008 are 8 days(25,26,27,28,29,1,2,3 )

now total hours is 24*8=192hrs

for 1 day clock looses 4min.

so for 8 days clock looses 32min. (8x4=32)

For every 6hrs clock looses 1 min.

so total min lost until 9am of 3rd mar 2008 will be 31min.

So the time will be 1.29pm

No of days between feb 25,2008 and mar 3rd,2008 are 7 days
Total hours is 24*7=168hrs
for 1 day clock looses 4min. so for 7 days clock looses 28min.
For every 6hrs clock looses 1 min.
so total min lost until 9am of 3rd mar 2008 will be 27min.
So the time will be 1.33pm

Dear Admin and Mr. chaitanya,

Pls check the solution again.
total no.of days between 25 FEB 2008 and 3rd MAR 2008 are 8 days(25,26,27,28,29,1,2,3 )

No of days will be 7 and not 8 as calculated by Chaitanya.
day of 25th Feb should not be calculated.

Further if clock is loosing time, adjusted time should be more than actual time if qn asked is for mins to be added on feb 25,2008 2 p.m .
If time is to be adjusted at 9 am on 3rd march 2008, then time should be near 9 am on 3rd march 2008 and not near 2 PM.

total days between 25 feb to 3rd mar(excluding 25 n 3rd) is 6 days.
so it looses 6*4=24 mins for 6 days.
since clock is set at 2pm on 25feb v need to add 10 hrs to 6 days.
on 3rd mar clock runs for 9 hrs.
so for total 19 hrs it looses (19*4)/24=3mins.
so v hv to add 27mins to 2pm so tat it shows right time at 9am on 3rd march.
(so it must be set to 2:27pm)

No of days between feb 25,2008 and mar 2rd,2008 are 6 days
Total hours is 24*6= 144hrs
now from mar 2nd 2008 , 2pm to 9 am is total 19 hrs
now toatal hr. is 19+144= 163 hr.
For every 6hrs clock looses 1 min.
163/6= 26.166 min.
now 2pm - 27min = 1.33 pm

Dear All,
all the answers posted are wrong...

The Question is to calculate no. of minutes to be added when clock shows 9.00AM

1. to calculate no. of hours between 25th-3rd at 9.00AM
hours = (8days*24)-5hrs
= 192-5 = 187
2. as said for every 6hrs 1min is lost
for 187hrs => 187/6 = 31 min

3. for 9.00AM the clock is slow by 31 mins
=> the clock shows 9.00AM when the time is 9.31AM
therefore approximately 31min should be added to get the right time.
(since only 10sec varies for a hour)

there are 7 days between 25th feb to 3rd march, so 7*4=28 minutes have to be added
