ans=ab/a+b
according to property of triangle by joining the mid point of hypotenuse and perpendicular we got two triangles of hypotenuse=h/2 and base=a/2.
so side of square =a/2 and b/2
as we know that side should be equal
so put a=b in the option we get a/2 and b/2 in the first option.

mid point of hypotenuse to right angle vertices is called median and its length is equal to half of hypotenuse.
according to question that median is diagonal of formed square which has length h/2
let side of square is x
rt2*x=h/2
=>rt2*x=rt(a^2+b^2)/2
x=rt(a^2+b^2)/(2*rt2)

a^2+b^2=h^2

according to property of triangle by joining the mid point of hypotenuse and perpendicular we got two triangles of hypotenuse=h/2 and base=a/2.

let side be is x =>x=a/2 x=b/2 =>2x=a/2+b/2 =>x=a+b/4
they ask x ^2 =>x^2=a/2 *b/2=ab/4
=> x=ab/4(a/4+b/4) =ab/a+b

let the side of the square is x
base=a
perpendicular =b.
then if the hypotenuse as h , h/2 will be its half.
the for the triangle of hypotenuse as h/2.
(h/2)^2=(a-x)^2+x^2 _______(1)
for the second triangle of hypotenuse as h/2.
(h/2)^2=(b-x)^2+x^2________(2)
from (1) & (2),
(a-x)^2=(b-x)^2
a^2+x^2-2ax=b^2+x^2-2bx
a^2-b^2=2ax-2bx
(a+b)(a-b)=2x(a-b)
x=(a+b)/2
hence ans =(a+b)
