the correct question is this : 3 friends Gerard, Rooney and Ronaldson work together to dig a hole. Gerard alone can complete the work in 10 days, Rooney in 8 days and together all three can complete it in 4 days. They earn a total of Rs. 1,200. and solution to this is : Ronaldson can complete work in 40 days ( ¼ - 1/10 -1/8)
so ratio of work done is 1/10 :1/8 : 1/40 so the ration can also be written as 4 : 5 : 1
so the amount payed rooney is 1200 * (5 / (5+4+1) ) which is equal to 1200 * 1/2 = 600

Rooney share is 1200/2 = 600

As no information about runey and Rinaldo's work is given so we would assume that they do work in equal ratio..... As gerard comletes 2/5 work in 4 days so
Rest 3/5 work will be done by the rest two people in half half proportion.... Thus 3/10 work is done by runey in 4 days so he'll share 1200*3/10=360 rs

gerard = 1/10
rooney = 1/8
ronaldo = ?
all three can do the work in 4 days
ronaldo work = 1/4 - ( 1/10 + 1/8 ) = 1/40
ronaldo work = 1/40
total money = 1200
share = 1/10 : 1/8 : 1/40
share = 4 : 5 : 1
rooney share = 5/ (1+4+5) = 1/2
rooney share in amount = 1200 * 1/2 = 600 rs

Gerard's 4 day work=2/5
left work=1-2/5=3/5 which is done by Runey and Ronaldo
Gerard's share=1200*2/5=480
TO Solve further either Runey or Ronaldo's work should be given

In 4 days runey will do 40% of work as he could do 100% of work in 10 days.. With that logic his share should be 40% which equals to 480rs

Ronaldo can complete work in 40 days ( 1/4-1/10-1/8)
So, ratio of work done = 1/10 :1/8 : 1/40 = 4 : 5 : 1
So, amount earned = 1200 * (5 / (5+4+1) ) = 1200 * 1/2 = 600
