there will be 1 case when x,y,z will buy house a
another when they buy house b
and another when they buy house c

and selecting one from three is 1/9

For a particular house being selected, probability = 1/3
Probability all the persons apply for the same house = (1/3×1/3×1/3)3
=(1/27)×3
=1/9

Hence, three persons can select one house out of 3 in 3 x 3 x 3 =9.
