ans: 8 m
sol: After 4 m distance from 2nd pole(4 m) and after 12 m from 1st pole(12 m) sun light meet with ground but both meeting point is same, so dist. b/w poles =12-4=8

For 12m pole:
We form a right angled triangle with sun ray as hypotenuse and base and pole as sides making right angle.
We get tan(45) = 12/base = 1
base = 12

Similarly we get base for 4m pole to be 4m.

Note: the base distance is from the point where sun rays make the angle of 45 degree with horizon.

So distance between poles = 12 - 4 = 8m
