the no of ways of dividing the 7 similar objects between 3 persons would be
we could use a formula (7+3-1)c(3-1)=36 ways.
Or
we could distribute such that
7,0,0---->3 ways
5,2,0----->6 ways
4,3,0------>6 ways
1,6,0------->6 ways
5,1,1-------->3 ways
4,2,1--------->6 ways
3,2,2-------->3 ways
3,3,1---------->3 ways
total of 36 ways.

7=1+3+3,1+2+4,1+1+5
so 7!/(1!*3!*3!)*1/2!+7!/(1!*2!*4!)+7!/(1!*1!*5!)*1/2!=70+105+21=196
