x=5y;x-4=9(y-4)
5y-4=9y-36
y=8 so x=40

Fours years back,
Son=x-4
Father=5x-4
Given in qstn
F=9(x-4)
5x-4=9x-36
X=8
Therefore father's age=5*8=40

4 years back father's age is 9 means the eq is
5x-4=9(x-4)
5x-4=9x-36
4x=32
x=8

lets take 40 as fathers age then sons age is 8
4 years back means fathers age is 36 and sons age is 4 which is equal to 9 times of fathers age

=>f-4=9s-36
=>5s-4=9s-36
=>32=4s
=>s=8

x=5y
now 4 year's back
x-4=9*(y-4)
x=9y-36
substitute the value of x from above equation
5y=9y-32
y=8
and
x=40
so 40 is correct answer

40. At present x = 5x and 4 years back the age of father was 9y = y and x-4= 5x -4 .we get two eq i.e x-4 = y and 5x-4=9y. Solve it . we get ans is 40

son present age=x
father present age=5x (bcoz father is 5 times his SON'S AGE)

now 4 years back...

SON FATHER
9(x-4) = (5x-4) //father was 9 times older than son so, 9(sons age)= father age 4 years back..
9x-36 = 5x-4
9x-5x = 36-4
4x = 32
x = 8

so, father present age=5x i.e., 5*8=40

So we may write
9(x-4)=(5x-4)
X=8
