= -10+20- 10*20/100
= 10- 2
=+8% so increased

Let the S.P be Rs 100 / shoe
Let 100 shoes are sold out
cost of shoe 10% decreased = ( 100- 10)= 90 Rs
20% Increase in sales therefore 120 shoes sold out
90*120=10800
100*100=10000
therefore (10800-10000)/100=800
=> 8% increase in sales

net profit=x% increase and y% increase =x+y+(xy/100)
net profit=x%increase and y% decrease =x-y-(xy/100)
here x%increase and y % decrease
so apply seconf formula
20-10-((20)(10)/100)=20-10-(2)=10-2=8% increase

for example 100 shoes each 100 rs
total price = 10000 rs
no of shoes sold 20% increase so 120 shoes
price of shoes 10% decreases so 90 rs
now new total price 120*90=10800
% increase=(10800-10000)/10000*100
=8%

correct ans is 8 % increase i.e. option (b)

let the selling price of each pair of shoes is 100
new price = 100 - (10% of 100) = 90

let the initial sale (at 100 rs price) be x
then total sale = 100*x= 100x rupees

now.
to find the no. of sold shoes at rs 90 , consider increase by 20%... so it is x+(20% of x) = 6x/5
total sale= 90*(6x/5) = 108 rupees

so , (new sale - initial sale)= 108-100= 8 increase

100->100-100*10/100=90 (10% decreased)
90->90+90*20/100=108 (20% increased)
net effect
((108-100)/100)*100=8% incrrease

Formula is a-b-ab/100.
so a is the increase %
b is the decreased %.

Let C.P be Rs100
Price Decreased by 10%,
S.P=C.P-Loss ==> 100-10 ==> Rs90
Price Increased by 20%
S.P= 90+20% of 90 ==> 90+18 ==> Rs108
Gain=108-100=Rs 8
Gain%= (Gain/C.P) * 100 ==> (8/100)*100
which is 8% increase.

new price after discount(10%)=360(400*10%)which is Selling price
we know that
SP-CP= Profit
so
360 - CP = 12% of 400;
360-CP=48;
CP=312..
maybe :p

> suppose current price is X and current selling price is Y.
> now price decreases by 10% so X-(10X/100)=X-0.1X= 0.9X
>now sales increased by 20% so Y+(20Y/100)=Y+0.2Y= 1.2Y
>net effect ON sale is 1.2*0.9=1.08
>1.08*100=108 which shows INCREASE IN 8%
