cp= (1/(140-120))*100=5
sp=5+ 5*(20/100)
= 5 + 1
=6

Let initial Cost price was X.
Then SP = X + 20% of X = 1.2X.
If SP increased By 1 then
1.2X + 1 = X + 40% of X
1.2X + 1 = 1.4X
.2X = 1
X = Rs. 5.
Starting SP = Rs. 5.

let C.P. of a mango = x rs,
therefore sp1 = x*120/100,
sp2 = x*140/100=x*120/100+1,
solving sp2 we get x=5,

So puting x=5 in sp1 we get sp1=6 ans.

let the cp = xrs.
profit% is given = 20% .
i.e sp1=(x*20)/100 + x.
now if add sp in 1rs each(we use onl one mango) then,
sp2=(x*20)/100 + x + 1.
which is 40% of the cp is given .
so ,
cp =xrs of 40% profit = sp2.
x + (x*40)/100 = x + (x*20)/100 + 1.
100x + 40x = 100x + 20x + 100.
20x = 100.
x=5rs (cost price for each mango).
and , 1st case sp1 = (x*20)/100 + x.
sp1 = 6 rs.(ans)

cp = x, sp1 = 1.2x
sp2 = 1.2x+1
in both cases, cp is same
100sp1/(100+20) = 100sp2/(100+40)
12sp2 = 14sp1
12(1.2x +1) = 14*1.2x
x= 12/2.4 = 5

let cost price of a mango be c.p
and selling rice be s.p

for 20% profit we have...

20 = ((s.p - c.p) / c.p) * 100

for 40% profit we have

40 = (((s.p+1) - c.p) / c.p) * 100

solve for s.p
s.p. = 6

C.P. of two horses = Rs. 8000
S.P. of one horse = Rs. 4000
Gain = 25%
∴ C.P. of this horse = Rs (100/125) x 4000 = Rs.3200
C.P. of another horse = Rs. (8000 - 3200) = Rs. 4800
S.P. of this horse = Rs. 4000
∴ Loss% = (800/4800) x 100 % = 162/3%

first sp=120% of X
second sp=140%of X
seller increase 1 rs
so equation will be
140/100*X-120/100*X=1


so X =5


so in first case sp=120% of 5
=6 ans
