adding 1+1/2+1.1/2=2
now, 2+1/3+2>1/3=3...
Similarily the last term will give us 1972

From the series ,we have to take first 2 numbers
1+1/2+1*1/2 = 2
now series left is (2,1/3,1/4,......1/1972)
take 2&1/3
2+1/3+2/3=3
Now repeat this step till last and the series will be (1971,1/1972)
and 1971+1/1971+1971/1972= 1972 (ANSWER)

answer would be 1972.
suppose in x=1,y=1/2
so,x+y+x.y will evaluate to 1+1/2+1/2=2;
now x=2,y=1/3;
so,x+y+x.y=2+1/3+2/3=3
we see that if the above operation is performed on first two nos. answer is 2 and when applied on first three terms of the series it is 3.... so when applied till the last term it would be the reciprocal of the last term i.e., 1972.
