Son's age: x
Father's age: x + 30

In 5 years:
Son's age: x + 5
Father's age: x + 35

In 5 years the father is thrice as old as his son so:
3(x + 5) = x + 35
x = 10

Current father's age is 40.

given,
Y=X-30---eq(1)
(X+3)=3(Y+3)--eq(2)
substitute eq(1) in eq(2) we gwt
X+3=3(X-30+3)
=>X+3=3(X-27)
=>X+3=3X-81
=>2X=84
=>X=42 years
hence answer is option d)none of these

age of father = x+30 = 40

AFTER 5 YEARS F:S = 3:1
LET THE PRESENT AGES BE: F:S

F+5 = 3

S+5 = 1
BY SUBSTITUTING F=30+S IN EUATION (1) AND CROSS MULTIPLY
35+S = 3S+15
20 = 2S ---> S = 10
SUBSTITUE IN EQUATION (GIVEN)
F= 30+ 10
WE CAN THAT PRESENT AGE OF FATHER IS 40 YEARS ,

Given conditions:
Present age of father=Thrice his son's age
After 5 years,
Father's age=3 times his son's.

Substituting the given options,
i)40(check for the above conditions specified.) it satisfies

after five years from now
y+5=3(x+5)
from given equations
put value of y in final equation
x+30+5=3(x+5)
x=10
y=x+30=10+30=40

Acc to qn ,in 5 years
Son =x+5
Father=x+35;

Father is thrice as old as his son::
3(x+5)=x+35
after solving this,
x=10

now put x in eq (1)
Father age=40
