As there are 6 rounds, it means there are 2^6= 64 teams.

Each match result in elimination of 1 team.

so 63 matches are played to eliminate 63 teams.

first round:32 teams
second round:16 teams
third round:8 teams
fourth round:4 teams
fifth round:2 teams
final or sixth round:only 1 team
so total is :32+16+8+4+2+1=63

let the total no. of teams be x
after 1st round x/2 teams will be remaining
after 2nd round x/4 teams will be remaining
after 3rd round x/8 teams will be remaining
and so on
after 6th round x/64 teams will be remaining
as after 6th round there will be only one team remaining
so x/64=1
x=64
so in total there are 64 teams
so to eliminate 64 teams 63 matches have to be conducted...
