Let x=cost price
Y=selling price
So, x+(14.28x/100)=y-(11.11y/100)
Or y=1.2856x
Or y=128.56x/100
Or y=x+28.56x/100
28.56% above the cost price he mark his goods

lets say sp = 1
discount = 11.11% = 1/9
thus if cp = x
(8/9 - x)/x = 14.28% = 1/7
8/9-x=x/7
8/9 = 8x/7
x = 7/9

profit bfore discount = (1-7/9)/(7/9)*100 = 2*100/7 = 28.56% ...... ANS

let x be the cost price and y be the selling price..
price after 11.11% discount=y-(11.11/100)*y=(88.89/100)*y
price after 14.28% gain=x+(14.28/100)*x=(114.28/100)*x
so (88.89/100)*y=(114.28/100)*x
y=(114.28/88.89)*x=x+(25.39/88.89)*x
hence he should mark at 25.39/88.89 above the cost price

Let the CP be Rs. 100, then SP = 100 + 14.28% of 100 = Rs. 114.28.
(As Profit = 14.28%)
This profit is arrived after giving discount of 11.11% on the marked price.
Let the marked price be x.
X - 11.11% of X = 114.28.
X*(100 -11.11)/100 = 114.28
X = (114.28*100)/8889 = Rs. 128.56, which is more than 28.56% of CP
