difference of each number in this series from the first number 1..
3-1=2
5-1=4
9-1=8 thus 33-1 = 32. so, 2,4,8,16,32..so next no. will be 64+1=65.(Ans.)

2^1+1 = 3
2^2+1 = 5
2^3+1 = 9
2^4+1 = 17
2^5+1 = 33
2^6=1 = 65
