43/4 should be 49/4 as 12+ 1/4=49/4
(1,1/2,3/2,2),(5,1/3,16/3,15),(12,1/4,49/4,X)
[1+(3/2-1/2)*1=2]
[5+(16/3-1/3)*2=15]
[12+(49/4-1/4)*3=48=x]

sorry guys,
ans: look at the 1st and the 4th numbers in each sequence....
12x4=48 is the ans

divide series into 3 sections, in which each section contains 4 digits
4th terms in each section will be 1*2,5*3,12*4
so last number in the series =12*4=48

3rd no.(1+1/2)=3/2
4th no.=1x2=2

next set of 4 4th no.=1stx3=5x3=15
same way ans 12x4=48

There is an alternate solution:

Each 4th number is the previous number numerator minus the before the previous number numerator.

1/2,3/2 -> 3-1=2
1/3,16/3->16-1=15
1/4,43/4->43-1=42

So the answer could also be 42.

If as Rakesh says it's 49/4 instead of 43/4 then the answer is 48 (49-1=48).

its just the summation of the two factors i the series....
1 1/2 3/2 2
5 1/3 16/3 15
12 1/4 43/4 ? ans: (43/4)+(1/4)=11

Diff bw 2 & 5 is 3 and 15 & 12 is 3 so after 4 & next num diff should be 3...so answer is 1

15+12+1/4+43/4=38,38+43/4+43/4=119/2
