y=mx+c is the slope-intercept form of the equation of line used when we know the slope m of the line and the y-intercept c;
whereas y-y1=m(x-x1) is a one-point slope form used when we know a point on that line and its slope
there is also a two point form (x1,y1)(x2,y2) =>
y-y1=[(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)](x-x1)
