Alzheimer Disease is the leading cause of dementia, a set of symptoms that includes loss of memory, judgment and reasoning, and changes in mood and behavior. It is most common in elders but is not caused by ageing. In studying the brains of Alzheimer and non-Alzheimer patients it has been found that those diagnosed with Alzheimers have less brain tissue compared to non-Alzheimer patients. The results show a correlation between a decrease of brain tissues with an increase in abnormal protein deposits in the brain.
