This is an equation of a plane So x,y,z intercepts are the point at which the plane cuts or touches the 3 axes.
So for x-intercept we will put y=z=0 and for z-intercept x=y=0;
hence, x-intercept:
=>7x+17(0)+3(0)=54
=>x-intercept=54/7
Similarly, z-intercept:
=>7(0)+17(0)+3z=54
=>54/3
difference between x-intercept and z-intercept:
54/7-54/3=-72/7
ans; -10 2/7 or -72/7

7x+17y+3z=54
=> (1/54)*(7x+17y+3z)=1
=> x/(54/7)+ y/(54/17) + z/(54/3) = 1 -------(1)

stantard eqn of plane in intercept form is: x/a + y/b + z/c = 1 , where a,b,c are x,y,z intercept respectively.

comparing eqn(1) with standard eqn, we get
x intercept=(54/7)
y intercept=(54/17)
z intercept=(54/3)

difference between x intercept and z intercept = 54/7 - 54/3 = -72/7 = -10.28

let x=y=z=2
then 7*2 + 17*2 + 3*2 = 54
hence 2 - 2 = 0
ans = 0

x intercept x/(54/7)
y intercept y/(54/7)
z intercept z/(54/3)
54/7-54/3=(378-162)/21
=72/2

so x=2 and z=2 soln can be observed

ans is 0

now we can write in this way
x/(54/7)+y/(54/17)+z/(54/3)=1
so the difference between x intercept and z intercept is (54/7) - (54/3)= - 72/7
