Proportion of milk in 3 samples is 2/3, 3/5, 5/8.

Proportion of water in 3 samples is 1/3, 2/5, 3/8.

Since equal quantities are taken,

Total proportion of milk is 2/3 + 3/5 + 5/8 = 227/120

Total proportion of water is 1/3 + 2/5 + 3/8 = 133/120

Proportion of milk and water in the solution is 227:133

suppose vol of each sample is 120 units.
Milk and water in first sample = 80:40
Milk and water in first sample = 72:48
Milk and water in first sample = 75:45

Ratio of milk and water in final mixture = 227: 133 ... option D

We are essentially replacing water in the mixture with pure milk.
Let WO be the amount of water in the mixture originally = 8 litres.
Let WR be the amount of water in the mixture after the replacements have taken place.
Then, WRWO = (1−RM)n, where R is the amount of the mixture replaced by milk in each of the steps, M is the total volume of the mixture and n is the number of times the cycle is repeated.
Hence, WRWO = (1−1020)2 = (12)2 = 14
Therefore, WR = WO4 = 84 = 2 litres.
WR is the quantity of water in the mixture after the process is done twice.
So, the final quantity of water in the 20-litre mixtures is 2 litres.
Hence, the mixture will have 18 litres of milk and 2 litres of water.
