actual question is ;; A car is run until the gas tank is 1/8 full. The tank is then filled to capacity by putting in 14 liters. The capacity of the gas tank of the car is:
solution is : runs when gas tank filled by 1/8 then remaining is 1-1/8= 7/8
of capacity 14 liters ;; then full capacity of the gas tank of the car is 14 / (7/8) = 14*8/7 =16 liters

let x be original capacity of tank.
(1/8)x+14=x
solving for x will get,x=16.

again filled 14 litter
Remining litter=1-1/8=7/8
The capacity of the gas tank of the car is=14*8/7=16
