start both the clocks...
when 4 min clock is over,revert it(while still a min to go in 5 min clock and remember it is still running).
when 5 min clock is complete revert ur 4 min clock(now u just have 3 min in ur 4 min clock)and start counting ur time...

remaining 3+4(u have to again revert the 4 min clock)
hence 3+4=7

start the 4 min glass, when that is half gone, start the 5 min glass

2+5=7

@mukesh, if we start both the clocks simultaneously, the 4 min clock will stop before the 5 min clock. so no use. What we can do is, start the 5 min clock, and hold on till it is over, and start the 4 min clock as soon 5 min is complete and stop it when its half completes. so the answer would be 5+2=3

arrangement in each place = 3x3x2x2x1x1 =36

Initially we will start both clock.
Then when 5min clock stop we will start counting.
And 4min clock going up to 3-times.

Hence-4x3-5=7min.
