first of all take 3:5 and multiply both by 100
now principle of 1st investment is 300
now principle of 2nd investment is 500
and total investment (500+300) =800

25% profit on 1st investment = 375
10% loss on 2nd investment = 450

now total after loss and profit (375+450) = 825
that is 3.125% gain of 800

ans. 3) 3.125% gain

ans is 3.125% gain

we can assume amount of investments to be 30 and 80 as they are in the ratio of 3:5.
so on first there is gain of 25% so gain will be of 7.5 and on the other investment there is loss of 10% so loss of 5.
so total amount is 82.5 after profit and loss. earlier it was 80

so 2.5/80*100 =3.125% gain

First Investment(CP) = 3x
Gain%= 25%
SP of first investment = 125% of 3x = (15x)/4

Second Investment(CP) = 5x
Loss% = 10 %
SP of Second Investment = 90% of 5x = (9x)/2

Total CP = CP of investment 1 + CP of investment 2
= 3x+5x
= 8x
Total SP = SP of investment 1 + SP of investment 2
= ((15x)/4)+(9x)/2)
=(33x)/4
gain% = ((SP-CP)/CP)*100 (put the corresponding values)
= 3.125

as 3:5 ratio
let, 1st investment is 300
2nd investment is 500
total investment is 800
25% profit on 1st investment = 375
10% loss on 2nd investment = 450
total after loss and profit 825
which is 3.125 % of 800
as its increases so gain.

we could assume 3x,4x as investments
on first one investment gain would be 3x/4 and on second one loss would be x/4.
total profit would be x/2 .
for 8x sum it would be 100% then for x/2 sum it would be 3,125% gain
