Let the present age of gentleman (G) and wife (W) be 4x and 3x resp....
thus after 4 yrs the ratio will be (4x+4)/(3x+4)=9:7..
on solving we get the value as x=8..i.e present ages are G=32,W=24...
Now at the time of marriage the ratio will be :
(32-y)/(24-y)=5:3
on solving we get y=12...
Thus 12 yrs ago they got married.

g/w=4/3
(g+4)/(w+4)=9/7
(g-m)/(w-m)=5/3
g = 32, m = 12, w = 24
They were married 12 years ago when she was 12 years old and he was 20 years old!
32/24=4*8/3*8=4/3
36/28=9*4/7*4=9/7
20/12=5*4/3*4=5/3

let the ratio is of x
after 4 years ; (4x+4)/(3x+4)=9/7
before y years ; (4x-y)/(3x-y)=5/3
by solving we get y= 12 years

after 4 years: (4x+4/3x+4)=9/7 ----> 28x+28=27x+36 -----> x=8 and
thier ages are 4*8=32 and 3*8=24
(32-x)/(24-x)=5/3 ----> 2x=24 --->x=12
ans=12 years
