When four fair dice are rolled simultaneously, in how many outcomes will at least one of the dice show 3?

Solution

Total no. of outcomes = 6*6*6*6 = 1296
No. of odd outcomes (if no 3 obtained) = 5*5*5*5 = 625
so favourable outcomes = 1296-625 = 671
