1950-1=1949=1900+49=1+(49/4*2+(49-49/4)*1)=1+(12*2+37*1)=1+61
1+61/7=1+5=6
26th jan=26/7=5
Now, 6+5=11=11/7=4

26th jan 2016 means we have calculate
dd+mm+year+leap year/7=26+01+50+12/7
=4(thursday)
