Assuming the car starts at the first pole...

To reach the 12th pole, the car need to travel 11 poles (the first pole doesn't count, as the car is already there).
11 poles 24 seconds
1 pole (24/11) seconds

To reach the last (20th) pole, the car needs to travel 19 poles.
19 pole 19 * (24/11) seconds
= 41.4545 seconds

the car will take 40 seconds to reach the last pole i.e., the 20th pole

after 24 seconds driver reached to 12th pole .
Since, 12th poled covered in 24 seconds means just double.
Hence it will take 40 seconds to reach 20th pole.
