The question is wrong... Correct the first sentence to "The average age of boys in the class is twice the number of girls in the class."

Solution:
5:1 ratio gives you 30 boys and 6 girls
average age of boys is twice girls: Therefore 12 with 12 being the average girls age as twice 6
The total age of the boys is 12 X 30 = 360

so boys are 30
and girls are 6
as given in ques.
(total age)/30=2*6
by this
we gettotal age=360.
