Let total no. of matches = x
then, total runs 54*x
total runs before final = 51*(x-1)
runs in final match
54*x - 51*(x-1) = 78
By solving this equation.....
x= 9

t/n=51------>1
t+78/(n+1)=54-------2
substituting t=51n in eqn2 then
51n+78=54n+54
solving it we get n=8....total no of matches played is 8

let t is total and x is no.of matches then t/x=51 and t+78/x+1=54 by solving we get x=8 but we need x+1 including ipl so ans is 9

51x - 51 + 78 = 54x
27 = 3x
x = 9

Let number of matches played before final is x
and average before final is 51
After scoring 78 in final average becomes 54

so we can write it as


(51*x +78)/(x+1) =54.
by solving this we get 8 as value of x

Hence including final total number of matches would be 8+1=9.

after final round scores average is
(51x+78)/(x+1) = 54
51x+78 = 54x+54
54x-51x = 78-54
3x = 24
x = 8
total no. of matches = x+1
= 8+1 = 9 ans.

before final, no. of matches = (x-1) and

for (x-1) matches, avg is 51.

hence total runs for (x-1) matches = 51(x-1)

Runs scored in finals = 78

hence total runs in x matches = 51(x-1)+78 whose avg is 54.

hence (51(x-1)+78)/x = 54
(51x-51+78)/x = 54
3x = 27
x = 27/3
x = 9

Ans is (c) 9.
