5x+2y = 17
where, x and y are integer.
x = 3, y= 1 (possible)
y= 6, x = 1 (possible)
=> as they are different in number so, x is not equal to 3
one rupee coin = 3
2 two coin = 6
5 rupee coin = 1
Total = 10.

answer 10 stamps,the shopkeeper gave 3 one rupee stamps already,
3*1=3 rupees,
6*2=12 rupees,
1*5=5 rupees,
total amount 20 rupees.
and total number of stamps 3+6+1=10
so ans ....10

cause of no change shopkeeper gives 3 one rupee stamps..
means the boy buy 17rs stamps...
he will buy.... 1 rs 5 stamps........2rs, 1 stamp...& 5 rs.. 2 stamps..so
totals rupee 17 & total no of stamps including 3 ARE 11;
ans=11

1*3=3
i have 3 one rupee stamps,
i have remaining 17 rupees
let no of 5 rupee stamp=x
2 rupee stamp=y
a/c question,
5*x+2*y=17
put x=1,y=6
x=2,y=fraction
x=3,y=1
so we have 3,1,3 one rupee,2 rupee,5 rupee stamps respectively
or,we have 3,6,1 1/2/5 rupee stamp

so
there may be 1 stamp of 5/-
and 6 of 2/-
or

2. acc. to same above sentence, answer can be 9 stamps
