width remain x.........because z strips are placed one over the other and so each strip is of x width and so total width of all strips is also x

a metal strip width x cm.2 strips are combined one over another,then length is y.so remaining length is (y-x).z is the final strip,placed same manner, so final width is (z-1)(y-x)+x

when 2 metal strips are placed on over the other, the thickness = 2*x = 2x
it is given as combined length=y
hence 2x=y
when these strips are placed one upon the other "z" times, thickness= z*(y)
=z*2x
=2xz

zx for sure. length won't matter. Width becomes z times just like when you stack a pile of books, does their length matter. width of a book matters and the total width means adding all the widths
