48cc.
unit cubes at the edges are chopped off.
length, breadth and height are reduced by 2 units (1 at each of the ends)
therefore volume of the new cube=2*4*6=48

volume of it =4*6*8=192
unit cubes are used,so no. of cubes=192/(1*1*1)=192 no. of cubes.
now there are 8 layers of cuboid of its lenght=4cm and breadth=6cm
hence all the faces of cuboid are painted using diffrent coliurs ,
so no of cubes with no face painted--
in 1st layer=0
in 2nd layer to 7th layer=6*8=48
in 8th or last layer=0
so total no of cubes with no face painted =48
so the volume of new formed cuboid is 48 cm^3

Cuboid is made of unit cubes
Find the volume of hollow cuboid = (4-2)*(6-2)*(8-2)
= 2*4*6
= 48

Can some1 explain it clearly in detail..and how can u say "unit cubes at the edges are chopped off?"

length 2 cm, breadth 4 cm and height 6 cm.
As we can see cube have three different size faces 4*6, 6*8 and 4*8
And we can get tyhat when we paint the cuboid from one side. the inner unpainted surfac dimension will be
for 4*6 it will be 2*4
for 6*8 it will be 4*6
and for 4*8 it will be 2*6
so we get the new unpainted cuboid have a dimension of 2*4*6
