relative vel in first case - 140 kmph
rel vel in second case = 40 kmph

time taken in second case = 50*140/40 = 175 secs

length of train =t
length of goods train=g
t+g=(90+50)*(50/3600)km
t+g=1.944444km
now,t+g=(90-50)*tym
tym=1.94444/40 hours
tym=0.048611hours
=0.048611*3600 secnd
=175 sec

when travelling in the same direction there relative speed is 140km/hr
distance travelled =140*5=7000km
since distance tavelled is same,and relative speed in same direction=40km/hr
so time taken=7000/40=175sec

Relative speed in 1st case=90-(-50)=140km/hr
Relative speed in 2nd case=90-50=40km/hr
so,140*50=40*x (x is d time taken in 2nd case)
x=175secs..

When the two trains are in opposite direction then relative speed is U+V
When the two trains are in same direction then the relative speed is U-V
First case=140km/hr
Second case =40km/hr
Distance travelled in first case d=tv [50/3600]*140=1.944km
Distance travelled in second case d=tv
T*40 km
1.944=T*40
T=0.0486hr
Time in seconds =0.0486*3600
175sec

since time is in seconds,we will convert the speeds into m/s and den find answer...
it should be 284 second approx.

see first calculate their length that is 90+50=130*50/3600=1.94 kms
then u have speed its 40kmps then 1.94/40=48 secs

sorry then 1.94*3600/40 karo 175 aega and wo 90 + 50=140 tha :P
