2. [Q-12]In Loonyville, four people called Doctor, Engineer, Lawyer and
Architect follow the professions of doctor, engineer and architect.
However, none of them follow the profession indicated by their
name.
The architect has no pets. The engineer is very public spirited, but
has won no recognition or awards. Lawyer is a cricket fan. Engineer
plays golf regularly with Lawyer every Saturday, unless it rains.
Doctor is an only child. The mayor gave Architect an award for public
service. The Lawyer’s sister loves cooking. Engineer has a dog. The
architect’s only sporting interest is football.
What is the name of the Lawyer?

point to be considered- 1)none of them follow the profession indicated by their
name.2)professions are doctor, engineer and architect only. So any of the three professions must be followed by two persons.
The Mayor gave architect an award for public service whereas the engineer is very public spirited but has won no recognition or awards. So architect is not the engineer and cannot have the profession indicated by his or her name. So architect is a Doctor.
Engineer has a dog but the architect has no pets and hence Engineer cannot be an architect. So Engineer is also a doctor.
So Lawyer and Doctor each have either of the two professions namely 'architect' and 'engineer'
Now Lawyer is a cricket fan but the architect's only sporting interest is football. So Lawyer also cannot be the architect. So Lawyer inevitably has to follow the only remaining profession that is 'engineer' and hence Doctor is the architect.

Ans might be "ENGINEER"
"read the passage again ..it tests our grammatical skills also. there is difference between 'THE ENGINEER' and 'ENGINEER'...likewise THE DOCTOR and DOCTOR...:)

read it carefully- "the architect", "the engineer",..... nd the doesnt come b4 ny name. so the answer is engineer

we can see this problem in an nother way.. as its written here lawyer is a cricket fan nd the architect only sporting interest is football.so lawyer cant be the architect./so either lawyer be doctor and engineer but here we can se lawyer has a sisitr but doctor is an only child so lawyer must be an engineer.simple.

@SANDEEP: First of all my surname is DASGUPTA :P
anyway.. lets come to the point.. Here Engineer cannot be a lawyer because there is no such profession as lawyer.. here Lawyer just refers to the name of a person.. read the ques properly.. there are just 'THREE' professions..
