concept of successive percentage, total percentage= x+y+xy/100
put x=2 and y=3
combined growth= 2+3+2*3/100
= 5+0.06= 5.06%

therefore 100%---2%increase---102%-----3%increase---(102+3% of 102 )
=102+(3/100)*102
=105.06
therefore 105.06-100=5.06% is the answer

The combined growth of population in these two years = (1.02*1.03 -1.0)*100 percent = 5.06%

let initial population 100
1st year it increased by 2% that equals to === 102 ok (how? 2% of 100=2 right )
now next year increased by
3% i.e= 3.06 (how? 1% of 102 = 1.02 so 3% =3 * 1.02 = 3.06 )add it

102 + 3.06 =105.06
so for 100 after 2 year its 105.06
i.e 5.06% increased

let the population be 100 after 1 year it will become 102 and after 3 yr it will become 102+(3*102/100).so it becomes 105.06.so total increase in population is 105.06-100=5.06

let the initial population be 100
after 1st year
100+2% of 100 = 102
after the second year
102 + 3% of 102 = 105.06

the combined percentage can be found by

105.06 - 100 = 5.06
then
(5.06/100)*100 = 5.06%
