it will climb 17 ft in 17 hour.in 18th hour it will climb 3 feet ...so in 18 hour it will complete.

if monkey hops 3ft and slips back 2ft in a hour, it means the monkey hops (3ft-2ft)= 1ft/hr.
similarly in 17hrs it wil be 17ft.
Bt since the height of the tree is 20ft, so if the monkey hops up the tree in the next hr i.e 18th hr then it reaches at the top of the tree.

hence it takes 18 hrs for monkey to reach at the top.

20hr.For 1hr,monkey hops 1ft.so to reach 20ft,it ll take 20hrs

start from 3 ft -2 ft=1 ft in 1 hour
1+3=4ft - 2ft=2ft in 2hours
2+3=5ft-2 ft=3 ft in 3 hrs
go on continuing till 20 ft
17+3=20ft -2 ft=18 ft in 18 hrs.. he reaches 20 ft in 18th hour itself

2 hour work=(3-2)=1/2
work=1
time =2 hour
suppose he take x+3=20
means x=17 work done
17/(1/2)+last day to claim to tree
34+1(hour)
total =35 hour (Ans)

answer will be 18 because monkey climb 17 ft in 17 hour but in 18th hour ,money climbs 3 feet more and that time money will be at top after that may be monkey slips and come back to the 2 feet down but it minimum time monkey take to reach is 18 hr.
