number which gives remainder when divided by 357= 357+5= 362
when 362 is divided by 17 it gives 5 as the remainder . hence 5 is the answer...

357 is divisible by 17 so , when no is divided by 17 it will give remainder 5

when divided by 357 the number gives 5 as reminder
so let the number be (357*x+5)
dividing the number by 17 we get (357*x+5)/17
now 357 can be written as 21*17.
therefore, (357*x+5)= 357*x/17 + 5/17 = (21*17*x)/17 +5/17
now the reminder of 357*x/17=0 so the reminder of the number will be 5

5 is remainder since 357 is multiple of 17 thus remainder in both cases equal
