answer is (pi/2)-1.
find the area of sector i.e. (90/360)*pi*(1^2)=pi/4
area of triangle-(1/2)*1*1=i/2
area common to both = 2(pi/4 - 1/2) = pi/2 -1

Area common to both = 2(π4−12)=π2−1

Explanation:by using the formula ,curved surface area of a cone i.e.,pi*r*l, we have to solve this question.
calculation of "r":diagonal of a square d=sqrt(2)*side;--------------->sqrt(2)*1=sqrt(2).
--->d=sqrt(2).
we know that d=2r;
--->r=d/2;
---->r=sqrt(2)/2;
---->r=1/sqrt(2);
given side=slant height(l)=1cm;
then;
curved surface area of cone=pi*(1/sqrt(2))*1;
------>pi/sqrt(2)=3.14/1.414=2.22;
so,sqrt(5)=2.22;
hence answer is :(a)
