current age ratio......x/y=5/7 => x=5parts and y=7parts....
assume after 'p' years the ratio is 7/9.
5+p/7+p=7/9
then we get p=2 years...

this problem wont have a definite solution...
the easiest way is back calculation frm the given options

u can solve this way too, like, if u take ratio constant to be 1, then after 2 yrs, their ages will b in the ration 7:9
if ratio const=2, then after 4 yrs it will b 7:9
if ratio const=3, then aftr 6 yrs and so on....
so u'll get a relation like no. of yrs will be double the ratio const, or like a multiple of 2.. so luk at the options and then decide...

u can also try with this eqn: take ratio const=x and no. of yrs=y,
then u'll get (5x+y)/(7x+y)=7x/9x
if u solv it ull get y=2x again.....

ans is undetermine......how can u say tht 2 or or x year.....bcz u dnt know the age..so guyssssss ans is undetermine.....i am 20000000% sure..r u agree with me???hope so

current age ratio = 5:7.
increasing their age one by one till the ratio become 7:9...
After one year = 6:8
After 2 year = 7:9
ANS= 2 years

ratio=5:7
after=7:9
suppose after x year the ratio is 7:9

soooo

(5+x)/(7+x)=7/9
9*(5+x)=7*(7+x)
45+9x=49+7x
2x=4

x=2

x/y=5/7
=>7x-5y+0 ....(1)

after z years.
(x+z)/(y+z)=7/9
=>9x-7y=-2z ....(2)
by subtracting 1 & 2
y-x=z.
hence after y-x years

The sum has indefinite solutions. After 2,4,6.... Years the ration is 7:9 , so we cannot say it is 2 years.

2 years... as let after x years the ratio will be 7:9.
so the equation will be 5+p/7+p=7/9
