55*42 proportional to 1 job.
x*(42-9) proportional to 1 job.
taking ratio .x=70.
hence extra men engaged = 70-55=15.

Use M1*d1*h1/w1= M2*d2*h2/w2 formula

Here we have oly men and days so apply to formula

The work has to be completed in 9days before that means work has completed in 33 days

55*42=(55+x)*33
x=15

=>x=(55*42)/33
=70
additional men require=70-55
=15

no. of days is inversly propotional to no. of men .
and as no. of day decreased(42-9=33) so no. of men will increase, so the fraction would be 33/42.
now.... let total x men reqd to complete the work.
x/55=1/(33/42)
x=(42/33)*55=70
so additional men reqd=70-55=15
