volume of cube = 50*40*23 = 46000
volume of inner cube =(50-3-3)*(40-3-3)*(23-3-0)=29920
so the volume of the metal = 46000-29920 = 16080 cm^3
so the weight of the metal = 0.5 * 16080 = 8040 gms.

faces with dimesion are {(50*40),(40*23),(50,23)}
all dimesions have 2 faces but top one is not considerd
so volume of the metal will be
2(40*23+50*23)*3+40*50*3=18420 cubic cm
total weight=18420*0.5 gms= 9210gms

1 cm cube weight is 0.5gm thus 24420cm cube has weight of???=24420*0.5=12210

Volume of the metal used in the box = External Volume - Internal Volume
= [(50 x 40 x 23) - (44 x 34 x 20)]inline fn_jvn cm^3
= 16080 inline fn_jvn cm^3

Weight of the metal =[(16080 x 0.5)/1000] kg = 8.04 kg

l=40,b=23,h=50
total area=2(l*b+h*b+l*h)
=2(40*23+50*23+50*40)

sory my previous answer is incomplete
l=40,b=23,h=50
total area=2(l*b+h*b+l*h)
=2(40*23+50*23+50*40)
=8140 is total outer area of box
but here 3cm widht of each wall thus it mean each area is extend 3 cm thus
=8140*3
=24420
but now we want to use a one cubic bar to built that box which 1 bar is wight os 0.5gm thus for all box weight is
=24420/0.5
=48840

Dimensions of box: Length=50cm,Breadth=40cm,height=23cm.
Volume of box=50*40*23=46000 cc.
now, density of metal=0.5g/cc (given)
now, if metal is used, thickness of box is 3cm.

therefore,new dimension or outer dimensions of box are:
Length=56cm,Breadth=46cm,height=23cm
therfore,volume=56*46*23=59248 cc.

now metal will get concentrated in net volume=59248-46000=13248cc.

thus,weight of box= density of metal* net volume=13248*0.5=6624 gms or 6.624 kg

total volume of cube = 50*40*23 = 50600
total volume of hollow cube = (50-6)*(40-6)*(23-6) = 44*34*17 = 25432
total volume of metal = 50600-25432 = 25168 cm^3
total weight = 25168*.5 = 12584gms :)

I am really confused that why everyone is finding out the weight of the metal ..
Wherein question you have to find out weight of the box. So , asking to someone to submit proper solution.
