x-y=0.5
x/y>1

combining both 1/2y > 0 and 1/2x >0

=> x,y>0

Both required to answer the question

x-y=0.5
From the above we can conclude that either both are positive or both negative.
For example if we take x=3.5 then y should be 3 to make difference 0.5
But if x= -3.5 then y should be -4 to make the difference 0.5

Taking x> y makes both to be positive so both statement required

x-y=0.5
x/y>1 we can write it as x>y
that means x always greater than y so x positive....both data needed

yes both are positive.
take x=1 and y=.5 then 2x-2y=1
either statement are sufficient.
