Middle earth is fictional land inhabited by Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves and men. The Hobbits and the elves are peaceful creatures who prefer slow, silent lives and appreciate nature and art. The dwarves and men engage in physical games. The game is as follows a tournoi is one where out of the two teams that play a match, the one that loses gets eliminated. The matches are played in different round, where every round half of the team get eliminated from tournament. If the there are 7 rounds played, in knock out turnoi, how many matches were played?

(7-1)final means 7th round --> 1 match
(7-2)semifinal means 6th round--> 2 matches
(7-3)quat final means 5th round---> 4 matches
(7-4)round means 4th round-------> 8 matches
(7-5)round means 3rd round------> 16 matches
(7-6)round means 2nd round------> 32 matches
(7-7)round means first round-----> 64 matches
-----> total matches==>1+2+4+8+16+32+64=127 matches(or{2^7(no. of round)}-1=127)
-----> in first round total 64 matches so total teams are 2*64==>128 teams

in each round half of the team gets eliminated, so the the formula to solve is
(2)^n-1
here (2)^7-1
so ans is 127
