let the total liquid in container = x
quantity of A in container 1 = 5x/6
quantity of B in container 1 = x/6
quantity of A in container 2 = x/4
quantity of B in container 2 = 3x/4
new ratio of A and B = 1:1
let quantity container 1 mix = n
let quantity container 2 mix = m
=>now Quantity of A = 5xn/6 + xm/4 = x(5n/6 + m/4)
=>now Quantity of B = xn/6 + 3xm/4 = x(n/6 + 3m/4)
As new quantity of A and B are equal
=> 5n/6 + m/4 = n/6 +3m/4
=> 4n/6 = 2m/4
=> n/m = 3/4

ANSWER : 3:2

SOLUTION :

Let the ratio of mixing container 1 : container 2 is x:y

container 1 contribute
A = 5x/6
B = x/6
Container 2 contribute
A = y/4
B = 3y/4

Equating A = B
ie
5x/6 + y/4 = x/6 + 3y/4

We get x/y = 3/2

let liquid in container 1 be 5litre and 1 litre
and liquid in container 2 be 2litre and 6 litre.
on adding we get 7 litre of both a and b.
hence they should be added in ratio 1:2.

let take two containers c1 and c2 n use basic allegation method
in c1 qty. of A = 5/6 = 20/24
in c2 qty. of A = 1/4 = 6/24
in mixture qty. of A = 1/2 = 12/24

Take 1 portion from container 1 and N portions from container 2.

Then we collect in total 5/6A + 1/6B + N(3/4B + 1/4A) i.e.:

(5/6 + N/4)A = (3N/4 + 1/6)B

in order for this to be a 1 : 1 mixture, the coefficients of A and B must be equal, i.e.

(5/6 + N/4) = (3N/4 + 1/6) solving which gives N = 4/3 i.e 4 portions of B to 3 of A = solution D.

for first solution a:b=5:1 so a is present in 5/6 of the solution ......
for second solu a:b=3:4 so a present in 3/4 of the solution ....... and in the solution desired it is in the ratio of 1:1 so a is 1/2 of solution
