8 years ago Daughter age be X and Mother's age be 7X
now Daughter age is X+8 and mothers age is 7X+8.
three times Mercy’s age is her mother age therefore
3(X+8)=7X+8 => X=4
daugther's present age is X+8=12
Mother's present age is 7X+8=36.
now the ratio between them is 36/12=3
will be increased by 1 i.e y denotes the number of years before which the ratio becomes 3 + 1 = 4.
(36-y)/(12-y)=4 => y=4.

Ans: before 4 years

Eight years ago -- let Monisha’s age be M and Mercy’s age be D.
M = 7 D
Now M + 8 = 3 (D + 8)
7 D + 8 = 3D + 24
7D - 3 D = 24 - 8 = 16
D = 4 = age of Mercy before 8 years
M = 28 = age of Mother before 8 years

Current age of Mercy = D + 8 = 12
Current age of Monisha = M + 8 = 36
Current ratio of mother's age to Mercy's age = 36/12 = 3.
Let before x years this ratio becomes 1 more than the current ratio. i.e x denotes the number of years before which the ratio becomes 3 + 1 = 4.
Then 36 - x / 12 - x = 4
36 - x = 48 - 4x
3x = 12
Or x = 4
i.e before 4 years, the ratio of their ages will be 4. Therefore answer = 4

Let Mercy age is x and her moms age is y
before 8 years
y+8=7(x+8)---(1) and y=3x--(2)
sub 2 in 1
we get x=12
y =36
so the ratio is 1:3=4
result 4

ans =4 mercy age before 8 year is x and her mother is 7x now ,age is

3(x+8)=7x+8;x=4 so ratio is 28/4=7 ratio becomes 1 before 4 years 28-p/4-p=7+1/1+1 so p=4
