1 train 12.00 = 60km ; 2 train 1.30 = 80km;
1 train travel till 1.30 = 90 km.

let he two trains meet x hours after 1:30
then distance traveled by 1st train in 3/2+x hours = distance traveled by 2nd train in x hours
60 * (3/2+x) = 80*x
by solving we get x=4.5
imples 4.5 hours after 1:30
= 6:00 am

why distance is not require dude..if distance is less then 200km then your answer will change ...try to think about logic,,,you can not think about distance by your self

you can not calculate time if distance is not given between two station..it was dummy question ..

t1 at 60km/hr covers 60 km in 1 hr
t2 at 80 km/hr covers 80 km in 1 hr
since t2 starts at 1:30 t1 has covered 90 km in between 12:00 to 1:30
so now the relative speed when t1 and t2 both in moti0n is 80-60=20km/hr(opposite travel)
so 20 km in 1 hr
then 90 km in 4.5 hr
1:30+4.5=6am

speed 60km=distance /time
speed 80km=distance/time
equating 1 and 2
60*(t+1)=80*(t) because 2nd train starts after 1.5 hour
by solving we get t=4.5
so after 4.5 hours they meet (ie) at 6am they meet

If the train start from mumbai meet the train after t hour,then train starting from delhi will meet it after (t-3/2)time.
so we can write 60*t=80*(t-3/2)
therefore t=6
The ans is 6 am

Its dummy question...we can not equate them on the basis of distance because they can travel same distance at x hour of time....

there is a simple trick: u*t/(v-u) where.. 'u' is the speed of first train and 'v' is speed of second train and 't' is time after which the second train left. in this case u=60, v=80 and t=3/2 hours (because 12 to 1.30 we have difference of 1.30 i.e 1+(30/60)=3/2hrs.

now train D_M start 1:30
so ,
2:30 - 80km
3:30 - 160km
4:30 - 240km
5:30 - 320km
6:00 - 360km

so they meet at 6:00 pm

relative speed=80-60=20
d=90km(distance travelled by 1st train between12:00 to 1:30)
t=90/20=4.5 or 4:30
time of meeting=1:30+4:30=6:00

Ratio of their speeds=80:60, since speed and time have inverse relation,
Ratio of their time=60:80 =3:4
So, extra time that train from Mumbai has will be covered by the train from Delhi in T-3T/4 = T/4 time.
T/4 = Extra time of 3/2 hours
Therefore,
T = (3/2)* 4 = 6 hours

Thus, meeting time is 6 hours later from 12pm, that is 6pm.
