Present age of paulan not be more than double as his age was two times two years ago.

The age multiple always decreases with increase in age of two persons .
e.g.
If 2 year earlier, ages are 4 and 2 years ..... ratio is 2.
now ages should be 6 and 4 which is 1.5 times
It will go on decreasing as time passes.

PSUL'S AGE 2 YEARS B4: 2(X-2)=2X-4= 2X=4 => X=2

Can u explain how you have taken 2X=4
have u assumed that PSUL'S AGE 2 YEARS B4: is ZERO.


I think Dipin is right.

Ratio of two ages will always decrease with time when age increases.

If poul is now 3 years old.
Then present age of Alic is 0.5 years as present poul's age is 6 tumes of alice.
Then 2 years ago, paul was 1 year old .
Alic was ????? Years old. and Paul's age was 6 times age of Alic.
How is it possible ?

Pls check before putting some answer/solution.

ALIC'S AGE :- X
PSUL'S AGE 2 YEARS B4: 2(X-2)=2X-4= 2X=4 => X=2
PAULS PRESENT AGE :- 6(X+2)= 6X + 12 => 24
ALC'S PRESENT AGE:- X+2 = 4
SO PAULS AGE IS 6 TIMES OF ALICS.. :)

Let Poul age at present=p
Alice age at present=a
p-2=2a
and p=6a from the above conditions
a=1/2
so p=6*1/2=3 years
that means poul is 3 years at present

poul's present age is 6 years.
let x and y be the present ages of poul and alic respectively.
according to question x=6y; x-2=2(6y-2)
solving the equations we get y=1 and x=6.
