12 boys in 12 days
and
12 boys in 6 days + 16 boys in x days
so
by the formula:
M1 * D1= M2 * D2
12 * 18 = (12 * 6) + (16 * x)
so x = 9.
so ans is b)

Work in a day=12*18=
After 6 days, 4 boys joined=(12+4)
M1*D1=M2*D2
12*18=12*6+((12+4)*X)
216=72+(16*X)
216-72=16*X
144/16=X
X=9 days

18*12 =BOY DAYS
WORK LEFT=1-(6*12/18*12)=2/3
X*16/18*12=2/3
=>X=9

Let the total work to do 108.so 12 boys can do 108/18=6 unit work a day.so 1 boy can do 6/12=1/2 unit work in one day.now 12 boys work for 6 days and do 36 unit work.so left 72 unit work.now there is (12+4)=16 boys..so dey can do 8 unit work in a day.so there is needed 72/8=9 days.ans.
