Lets do the first part of the question, 2:3 ratio. ie. your speed in relation of the escalator is 2:3. Think of it like splitting the number of steps with the escalator; 2+3=5 so cut the escalator into 5 pieces, you walk 2/5 of the way and the escalator does 3/5 of the work. Note that 2/5 over 3/5 is a 2:3 ratio. So the answer to the first part of the question is (2/5)*120 = 48. That's the number of steps you take.
similarly the other person takes 45 steps.
In total 45+48=93

suppose speed in step/sec
the ratio of 1st
person’s speed to that of 1st escalator is 2:3 (steps) it means (3+2)=5 step/sec
similarly for 2nd person 3+5=8 steps/sec
escalator have total 120 steps

so for 1st person=120/5=24 sec
for 1st person=120/8=15 sec

speed of 1st person=2 step/sec
so total steps in 2 sec=24*2=48

similarly for 2nd person=15*3=45 steps

total=48+45=93 steps Ans

given ratios 2:3 and 3:5.In 1st case divide 120 by 5 which gives 24.so 24*2=48
similarly in second case 120 divide by 8 whch gives 15.S0 15*3=45
hence 45+48=93

solve it by ratio :-
120*2/5+120*3/8
=93ans
