x/10 + (x+4/8) = 5
8x + 10× + 40= 400
18x = 360
x = 20

Speed = Distance/ time taken
thus from given x/t =10 and (x+4)/t1 =8 and t+t1 =5
now substitute t as 5-t1,
hence x/(5-t1) =10 and it becomes 50-10t1 = x
now substitute x in 2nd given equation,
(50-10t1+4)/t1 =8
54-10t1 =8t1
18t1 =54
thus t1 =3
substitute t1 in 50-10t1 =x
thus x = 50-3(10)
x=20
hence x is 20

t1 + t2 = 5hours -(1) (total time for both journeys)
Here, t1= x / 10 (using formula time = distance/speed)
Similarly t2= (x+4) / 8
put these in equation (1) and solve,.
we will get x= 20 km/hr
