To form a Square the numbers should be perfect square
Ex: 2^2=4;3^3=9;4^4=16;
solution need to be the
i)choosen number 'x' must be perfect square.
ii) (x-32) = 'y'- should also should be square
iii) And y - 8 = z -> should not form a square.
So according to the options the answers need to be checked.
lets take 49. 7^7=49(i-valid); forms square. 32 left = 17 - does not form square (ii-not fulfilled).
lets take 100. 10^10=100(i-valid);forms square. 32 left = 68 - does not form square(ii - not valid).
but lets take 81. 9^9=81 (i-valid); forms square; 81-32= 49 forms square (ii - valid); 49-8 = 41(cannot form square - iii - valid).
Hence the answer should be 81.

to form a Square you need a perfect square of the number. total Left solders are 40.
Next perfect square number is 49. This is the total soldiers at the begining
